Alpha lipoid acid (ALA) is an endogenous dithiol antioxidant naturally synthesised in the body. ALA provides protection from oxidizing processes in a wide range of physiological conditions due to its hydrophilic and lypophilic properties. It is an essential cofactor for mitochondrial bioenergetic enzymes. ALA has been used in type 2 diabetes and neuropathy, and appears to be well tolerated. Functions:

  • Acts as a metal chelator
  • Helps insulin work more effectively
  • Increases glutathione
  • Slows brain aging
